To provide high quality drinking water and the effective treatment of sanitary sewage for the residents and businesses of the Town of Chenango. This department also maintains the Town’s parks and cemeteries.
Public Notices – Hydrant Flushing
PUBLIC NOTICE FIRE HYDRANT FLOW TESTING
The Town of Chenango will be conducting hydrant flow testing in several areas during the day on 4/24/25 from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm. The following list is the areas that will be tested.
- Bishop Road
- Clyde Gruver Road
- Clearview Place
- Pembroke Drive
- Asbury Ave
- Maplewood Drive
- Patch Road
If you experience discolored water, run your cold water tap until it clears. During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold-water clears.

Water & Sewer Billing
Billing is done quarterly in the months of January, April, July and October.
Credit and debit payments can be made online or in the office through PayGov

Water & Sewer payments may be made by check payable to “Town of Chenango Water” and mailed to the address below or left in the drop box behind the flag poles near the Town Hall Main Entrance. Payments can also be made by credit/debit card through the link above.

A 10% penalty is automatically applied to any unpaid balance the day after the billing due date.
Unpaid water & sewer bills are applied to property taxes annually on October 1.

Non-Conserving Water Use
Each person uses 77 gallons of water on the average day for indoor domestic purposes. Here are figures describing typical water consumption:

Water Rates:
Minimum water rate is $ 18.23 for first 750 cu ft.
$ 1.87 for each additional 100 cu ft.
Capital improvement charge will be $5.00 quarterly.

Minimum sewer rate is $ 41.93 for first 750 cu. ft.
$ 4.32 for each additional 100 cu ft.
Flat rate sewer customers fee is $ 80.87
The Town does not discount water or sewer charges to fill pools, hot tubs or to water lawns.
